Northwest baroque ensemble The I-90 Collective is back to kick off a new season of First Tuesdays Series concerts at Trinity Episcopal’s Parish Hall. If you heard the Collective’s blazing program last year, you know what to expect: phenomenal virtuosity combined with deep musicality. You’ll hear Tarquinio Merula’s certifiably mad duo-chaconne with violinist Carrie Krause and cellist Nathan Whittaker trading blazing eights like Benny Goodman and Lionel Hampton going for baroque; soprano Linda Tsatsanis’s rendition of Virgilio Mazzochi’s mini-cantata for a Roman garden party Sdegno campion audace (roughly, “The hell with you, bold champion”); and Anton Schmelzer’s “Cuckoo” sonata, whose title belies the grandeur of its music. And that’s just for starters. Don’t miss this show.
